The Snowbound Hat Sewing pattern is an easy-to-follow sewing pattern for a quilted, lined, patchwork Santa Claus hat in two sizes. 

The Snowbound pattern features three different versions (all included with the pattern):

1. Quilted Hat
2. Striped Patchwork Quilted Hat
3. Square Patchwork Quilted Hat

Suitable for light and medium-weight cotton and cotton blend fabrics. Not suitable for stretch fabrics. Quilting-weight cotton is recommended.

Size: 

Medium: approx 15” tall with 25 1/2” interior circumference

Large: approx 16” tall with 26 1/2” interior circumference

The Large hat should fit most adults. It fits both me and my husband.  

Keep in mind that a Santa hat sits loosely on the head. If you do not use faux fur for the trim, the hat will fit more loosely, since other fabrics are not as bulky as faux fur

Exact supplies are included in the purchased pattern. 

1/4 Yard Faux Fur (or a piece at least 5” x 27”). You can also use minky, chenille, or polar fleece. However, I recommend the faux fur. I used Flannel Backed Fur; Ivory 55” wide from JoAnn.  You can get two hats from 1/4 yard of 55” wide faux fur.

1 Large Pom Pom (mine are 4” in diameter, purchased from Amazon brand Tatuo)

5/8 Yard Fabric for Hat Lining
1/2 Yard Quilt Batting (I used 100% cotton batting)

1/2 Yard of Fabric for Hat Outside Piece

 View 2:

3/8 Yard of Fabric for Stripe Color 1

3/8 Yard of Fabric for Stripe Color 2

8 pieces of fabric 2 1/2” x WOF - in various prints. You can use strips from a precut 2 1/2” roll of fabric.

OR

3/4 Yard Fabric TOTAL of various prints cut into 2 1/2” wide strips.
